TEHRAN (IQNA) – The director of Iran’s Islamic Seminary Schools highlighted the vigilance of the Muslim nations of Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkey in the face of divisive plots.

In a statement on Sunday, Ayatollah Ali Reza Aarafi criticized recent injudicious remarks by Turkey’s president.

He said the irresponsible comments undermined the sweetness of Azerbaijan’s recent victory.

The cleric underscored that rulers of regional countries must remember the necessity for respecting the territorial integrity of others.

He went on to say that the Muslim nations of Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkey remain vigilant against the divisive plots hatched by the world Zionism.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan provoked controversy when he recited lines from a folk song that laments partitioning of the lands inhabited by Azeri people by the Aras river.

Erdogan was in Baku to review a military parade marking the Republic of Azerbaijan’s victory over Armenia in a recent war over the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave.

Iranian officials have condemned the remarks.
